Is there winter storage available?
Yes. The Mower County Fairgrounds offer secure buildings with concrete floors and pest control for winter storage. Storage is typically available from mid–October to mid-April. Contact the grounds keeper at 507-433-3376 or the fair office at 507-433-1868 to make arrangements. Winter storage is first come-first serve so make sure to call early in October.
Can I rent buildings or grounds when the fair isn't on?
Yes! The buildings, grandstand and grounds are available much of the “off season” and are often rented out for livestock shows, auctions, flea markets, horse shows, concerts, Craft Shows, Weddings, Quinceanera's and many other types of events. Contact the office for more information.
Where can I get discounted carnival rides?
Gold Star Amusements operates the carnival and they offer The Passport To Mower Fun! With it, you can ride unlimited rides all week long. It is available at a discounted rate on this website, the fair office or at Hy-Vee customer service. You can buy the Passport To Mower Fun at the carnival during the fair, but it will not be discounted. Tickets are available starting in early June. Can I bring my pet to the fair?
We really do love pets but during the Mower County Fair we do not permit pets on the grounds. Animals on the fairgrounds for shows and exhibits require appropriate health papers. Service animals are welcome throughout the facility. A service animal is defined as an animal individually trained to help someone with a disability. Emotional support animals are not service animals. Pets are not allowed for animal health and liability.
What are the hours of the fair?
Like all fairs, the Mower County Free Fair has different hours for the various areas. The Plager and exhibit building hours are 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Most food vendors are open at noon, some are open for breakfast until approximately 10 p.m. Some are open later.
The carnival typically opens at 3:00 p.m. but check the carnival tab for more details. Some days they open at noon.
The Beer Garden is open by noon and is open until 12:00 a.m. except Sunday when it closes at 6:00 p.m. These are general guidelines for hours.
How do I enter a project at the fair?
Click on the Fair Info tab and locate the Premium Guide. Within the Premium Guide you will be able to determine the department and rules for the project you wish to enter. At the beginning of the Premium Guide you will find the entry forms. Print the form, complete it, and deliver or mail it to the fair office. Or fill in the form online and send it in.
Is there an admission fee?
No, entrance to the Mower County Free Fair is FREE! There is an admission fee for the Grandstand. Check the Grandstand tab for more information.
